Movies in May 2026

Following on from my previous movie summaries, this is my May 2026 review. Overall, I watched 31 new movies this month, taking the total for the year to 149! Watched 31 Hours 51 Average Rating 5.9 Highest Rated 8 The best movie of the month was The Drama (8/10), written and directed by Norwegian Kristoffer Borgli. He is the creator behind the wonderfully odd Dream Scenario, starring Nicolas Cage, and Sick of Myself, a comedic look at narcissism. The movie stars two much-in-demand actors – Zendaya & Robert Pattinson – who play the couple at the centre of the titular "drama". I found the screenplay really compelling, uniquely told with chaotic editing. I loved the interesting premise and how one scene completely changed the dynamic. There is great sound design and tension. Patterson's performance was the stand-out as things started to unravel. If you liked this movie, then check out those by Yorgos Lanthimos, and vice-versa.
