Took a week off from garden work due to exams and other life things, I returned to with Ellis to help cut down the hideous bramble patch of blackberry plants in the backyard. I found it difficult to cut down the branches and move them away without getting stuck at least a couple times. After a couple of hours fighting the thorns, we finally cleared out the area behind the shed and found a rather large animal hole behind it. Moving the horrible pile of thorns we left behind is a project for another week. We drove posts into the ground around the plots we dug a couple weeks ago and created a wire fence. Somehow I managed to not smash my thumb with the rubber mallet but was too afraid to swing very hard and made Ellis do it. We'll call it a wash. The arugula has started to sprout and hopefully will be ripe in a couple of weeks. Ellis stopped by during the work week to plant potato starts; once it gets a little warmer, we'll start growing tomatoes. We spared some of the blackberry…
