Morale has been in the gutter, dissent has been mounting, and the heat has become so intense on the ways skilled workers have been forced to become data-mined office drones that Meta is now walking back its tracking mandate. Employees will be able to opt out of the training program for Meta’s AI models. I’m very curious where the percentages end up. Normally I’d imagine a very high percentage will chose to “undraft” themselves, but I wonder if some employees will worry that doing so would subtly signal to management they’re not fully onboard Meta’s mission to usher in the new age of “superintelligence.” Time will tell… Last month, Meta reassigned 7,000 employees to units such as an Applied AI task force to help train Meta’s coming AI models.
