I am back with Season 2, Part 4 of the Home Network and Devices track in my CybersecKyle Security How-To Series. This time we are putting smart devices in their own lane and making a sane DNS choice without turning the house into a troubleshooting hobby.Smart devices are convenient little chaos machines.I am not anti-smart-home. I like convenience. I like automation. I like not getting up to turn off a lamp when I am already comfortable. But I also do not want a bargain-bin camera, old TV, or mystery plug sitting beside my work laptop like they have earned the same level of trust.They have not.The point of IoT quarantine is not paranoia. It is basic network manners. Devices should get the access they need and not much more.DNS is similar. A good DNS setup can block obvious junk, reduce tracking, and make the network calmer. A bad DNS setup can break apps, hide the real problem, and make everyone blame “the internet” when the filter is actually the issue.So we are going to keep this…
