Last year I announced that I’d been accepted to a fellowship program housed at The Institute for Diversity & Civic Culture where I’d be doing an oral history project featuring the lived experiences of Texas Buddhists. I named it “84000 Doors” after the Buddhist concept that there are infinite entry points to enlightenment. I’m pleased to share that the project is live! You can now listen to the personal stories of a diverse group of Texas Buddhists at 84000Doors.com. Great care was taken to record and transcribe these conversations, with a focus on each subject’s personal history, experience and particular form of practice. I hope you’ll give them a listen and join me in marveling at how beautiful diversity can be, even within the smallest subset of our state’s citizenry. While the fellowship has come to a close, the 84000 Doors project will continue to live on. I’m seeking additional interview subjects who are practicing within the State of Texas.
