A quick note on Atthis Arts

A while back, I decided to limit my involvement in Discourse, in part because it’s a time sink (but let’s be honest, I’d find some other way to procrastinate) and mainly because my contributions are rarely significant. I’m making an exception here, because I’ve previously spoken well of Atthis Arts and the Bells. I’ve known and interacted with them, professionally and personally, to a small degree online over the past few years (mainly Emily, but also Chris). My impression was always one of their hearts being in the right place, even in cases where I thought some of their strategies were counterproductive. But in the past week or so, I’ve heard a lot (in private spaces but also very publicly) about deeply questionable behavior that has caused strife in the SFF community in general and among some of the Atthis Arts authors in particular.1 (It also clearly hasn’t been good for Emily’s mental health.) I have negative interest in documenting any of this—anyone with interest in SFF…
