Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 3rd April 2026 Glasgow’s Void of Light have just released their debut full length record, ‘Asymmetries’, through Ripcord Records and have been building themselves quite a reputation for their wall of sound live performances since the release of their previous EP, ‘Enshroud’. The band are bringing post metal back to the fore, taking influences from the greats of the genre like Cult of Luna or Isis but forging their own particular journey. The delicate tones of opener ‘The Passing Hours’ soon descend into swaying, towering monoliths of post metal guitar and glacial sweeps of majestic, atmospheric passages. Drawing much from late period Isis (there’s a lot of ‘In the Absence of Truth’ about the gloriously dynamic ‘Silver Mask’), vocalist Ali Lauder has a little gruff Von Till-esque tone as well, and you can see exactly where the early 2000s post metal scene has given such an influence here.
