It has been a weekend of cheer, pigeons and gardening. On Friday afternoon I was in town and spotted not one, not two but three pigeons all with string foot. One of them had a very swollen and white foot which was clearly causing him a lot of pain but I had stupidly left my net at home. When I returned about an hour later with the net he was nowhere to be seen but I managed to catch a different bird that needed help so it wasn’t a wasted journey. Here’s the before photo. It doesn’t look so bad from this angle but you can see the damage from the other side of the foot once all the thread has been removed. On Saturday I returned with Ben and the pigeon with the swollen foot was again missing but we managed to help a different bird. Ben says other wives drag their husbands shopping but he’d much rather go pigeon de-stringing which is wonderful because I’d rather do that than shop too.
