Good day all, Finished an 8th army 25 pounder artillery piece this afternoon. Fun to paint and I like artillery pieces because they end up being little mini dioramas. This bad boy could fire up to 12.25km’s at a rate of 6-8 rounds a minute. This gun was particularly useful in the North African campaign during ww2 because of the open plains and minimal obstructions. It wasn’t designed to be an anti-tank gun but could fire armour piercing rounds nice and straight right into the Germans tanks. At the battle of El Alamein one Australian troop fired 1250 rounds in 90 minutes. Brilliant. The sandbags might be a tad on the big side because these were actually for 40k but I think they work ok. Especially for an artillery emplacement. Im very pleased with this one. Tomorrow I’m hoping to crack on with the M3 Stuart. Im also hoping to start catching up on all your lovely work too. Apologies but I’ve been on a bit of a roll and sort of striking while the motivational iron is hot if you know what…
