I’m behind on posting this given we’re well into spring, but I wanted to share some photos from winter in and around Munich. We had snow on and off until early April, which was magical save for one unfortunate accident. Isar River We live not far from the Isar, which flows north from the Karwendel mountains in Austria before winding through Munich on its way to the Danube. I enjoyed many hikes along its frosty banks through the winter. In late January, though, I slipped on a patch of ice and fell face-first onto a rock. The result: a concussion, a black eye, and very nearly losing my front teeth. I’m okay but will likely need braces to correct my teeth alignment once things have stabilised. Not fun, but could have been much worse. The river Isar Solln & Forstenrieder Park This is another regular haunt of mine, and thanks to someone generously giving me a bicycle I now often ride through the enormous Forstenrieder Park, once a royal hunting ground of the Wittelsbach dynasty.
