Okay, this might sound pretty silly to some people, but whatever. Here’s how I experience it: If I had to use music to describe to some more neurotypical brain how thought patterns usually work in my neurodivergent brain, I’d use “Angine de Poitrine” as an example. Take this song, for instance, “Fabienk,” the opener from their second album. But almost any other song by them works just as well. This is exactly how the thoughts in my head behave on some, if not most, days. Kind of odd and weird at first. You don’t quite get it right away, but you sense a pattern. The sounds—aka thoughts—are erratic, jagged, and unpredictable, but you suspect they’re following an overarching beat that doesn’t want to reveal itself just yet. Until the moment when the underlying rhythm becomes clear, shoots into your head, and straightens out your thoughts; it then sweeps you away and doesn’t let go for a while.
