It’s definitely not a common thing to be getting a new airport. When I was a child, there was talk of a future Badgerys Creek Airport. Now, after many years, Sydney is on the cusp of opening a second airport – Western Sydney International Airport, also known as Nancy Bird Walton Airport, located around Luddenham and Badgerys Creek. At present, some testing has been completed and freight operations are due to start 26 July 2026 (just over a month away), with passenger flights from 25 October 2026. Bus routes have been adjusted to provide connectivity to the airport, starting Sunday 5th July as the Metro won’t be ready yet. Above image from Transport for NSW as linked above. It seems everything is in full-swing, but as a bit of a radio guy, I felt it curious that, online, there wasn’t any information about the frequencies being used by YSWS.
