Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 12th June 2026 Canadian technical death metallers Goreworm have just released their second record, ‘Miasmic Solitude’, on Transcending Obscurity and while the genre has always suffered from the risk of saturated yet soulless brutality, Goreworm’s 2020 debut ‘Prodigy of the Grotesque’ had none of these issues. Their distinctive blend of tech death, melodeath and a healthy dose of atmospheric touches were exciting to watch unfold, and ‘Miasmic Solitude’ looks to build upon that into something even more impressive. Opener ‘Conjuring’ is an absolute beast of a track, bursting with tech death riffing and dissonant time signatures swimming in a pool of pure death metal brutality. Lurching from breakneck speed into slow motion chugs, and just as quickly back to the spiralling, clattering maelstrom, Goreworm feel like they are here to impress on this record.
