Sorcerer is one of the highlights of that era. The quintet is in full flow at the peak of it’s powers. There is not many other bands that top this group. The music is sophisticated and the creative heights are way up in the clouds. Post-bop/modal jazz at it’s best. The musicianship is outstanding. With players like Miles, Shorter, Hancock, Carter and Williams you’d expect nothing less. It feels like they created a whole new concept of jazz ensemble playing.Out of all the albums the second great quintet released this is perhaps my favorite. But all of them are top notch. One that is definitely missing is Nefertiti which I will look to acquire sooner rather than later.For me, Tony Williams’ drums are an integral part of this group.…
