The line in the title is the first thing that came to me when I read Matt's "creativity is a courageous act". in his post, Matt talks about how he writes for himself: For me, it's got to a point where I truly am doing this for myself, I don't mean that I don't want to share it, but I accept that some things might land and others might not, which is okay. Courage here, is the courage to say what you mean, regardless of how it is received. In other words, the courage to be authentic, is what Matt is asking us to embody in our creative work. And when we hold onto courage and create in public, we also allow for our ideas to spark yet more ideas, thoughts, and feelings in others. Perhaps these may be aligned with ours, perhaps not. But that doesn't matter. What matters is setting a chain of creation going, because you never know what will happen at the end of it. Matt's post fed into mine.
