The movie “Her”, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johannson was released in 2013. Earl, Jamie, and I saw the movie while staying at Walt Disney World. It was a rainy evening and we thought the Disney theatres would be impressive for this movie. They were. I was a bit awestruck at the thought of having an operating system backed with Artificial Intelligence. As a geek, I really enjoyed seeing what the movie producers thought the next step of technology would look like. I particularly enjoyed the setup UI; we don’t see enough orange in computer technology. Fast forward 13 years and we have “Artificial Intelligence”. It’s not really intelligence. AI is actually a Large Language Model that is really good at predicting the next word in a string of words. There’s been some amazing strides in the space over the past couple of years, and honestly, I’m surprised at what’s being squeezed out of some of these AI models.
