The Streets of Washington Flickr feed collects vintage images from postcards and other ephemera documenting historic places in the Washington area. The author, John DeFerrari, is a native Washingtonian and trustee of the D.C. Preservation League who has spent years assembling this archive. Streets of Washington also is on Substack.I discovered a photo there of Maison des Crêpes, a very popular restaurant in Georgetown when I first visited Washington in the early 1970s as a high school student. That restaurant closed in the early 1980s. I don't know where else I would have found this photo.I also enjoyed seeing a postcard of the annual Easter Egg Roll on the White House grounds, sometime in the early 1900s. Only the clothing seems to have changed.Seeing how the capital has changed — block by block, decade by decade — is quietly absorbing.
