The conversation continues in favor of physical media over streaming (or at least working some physical media into your listening rotation). I’ve been listening to CDs, vinyl, tapes, even the occasional 8-track, especially in the evening and on weekends when I can sit down in my living room with a book (or without) and intentionally putting on a specific album, flipping through the liner notes, and enjoying the experience. The word that gets bandied around is “friction” and how a little bit can be a good thing in building experiences around everyday activities. And while friction may not be what I’m looking for when setting up my workday playlist (radio, streaming, or my personal mp3/flac collection tends to do the trick from 9-5), I really do enjoy going back to physical media in the evenings and on weekends.
