Scribed by Sandre the Giant Released: 12th May 1986 German speed/thrash metal legends Holy Moses were another addition to the legendary year of thrash of 1986 with their debut full length, the superlative ‘Queen of Siam’. Clad in magnificent artwork, full of amazing riffs and fronted by the inimitable Sabina Classen, Holy Moses were a real force to be reckoned with early in the German thrash scene, despite multiple line up changes and eventual dissolution in 1994. Returning in the early 2000s, they stayed strong until their retirement in 2023, leaving behind some real beauties. Their classic debut ‘Queen of Siam’ is probably still their most famous record; it is a great microcosm of the scene’s extreme vitality at the time, and even forty years on it still shows that energy all the way through. Chalk another victory for the German thrash pack torrent of the mid 2000s to give me access to this absolute gem, one I have since picked up in physical format because why wouldn’t you? But…
