WHY TF DO I NEED TO USE A GOOGLE ACCOUNT TO SETUP A PASSKEY TO LOGIN TO YOUR SITE TO INCREASE SECURITY OF MY ACCOUNT????

Why??? I'm trying to login to this site at work, and now they need me to setup my google account so I can use a Passkey for increased security...??? There was no way around putting my phone number. At least I managed to avoid the passkey by scanning the QR with another nor connected phone. WHY DO WE NEED TO USE GOOGLE TO INCREASE OUR SECURITY? This is soooo weird and it doesn't make any sense. Just make me put two passwords, authenticator, or any other shit. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
