Zelda, 2015 – 2026. My beloved dog Zelda died on June 13, after being very sick with liver cancer. Our home feels a lot emptier without her presence. I hadn’t been through the grieving process with an animal before, but certainly with other family members. The brain always reminds you you have less time with a pet, but their loss hits profoundly in the same part of the heart. Zelda was my first pet, and I didn’t know much about dogs before she entered my life. There’s plenty I still don’t know, but here’s what I can tell you about Zelda. Eleanor and I brought the puppy home on August 1, 2015, one day after our wedding anniversary. We estimate Zelda’s birthday around early June. She was born on a farm in Sweetwater, Tennessee. We were told her mom was a Boston Terrier and her dad was a pug/chihuahua mix.
