Symbols matter. It’s why so many are upset that so many symbols are being desecrated and destroyed by despicable people. That’s certainly true in Washington DC given the current regime’s attempts to remake not only long revered symbols but also way of life. Perhaps that’s why each time I see a picture of the algae blooms that are taking over the Reflecting Pool on the mall, I laugh and welcome the karma.
