pardon my french. ;P i am, of course, talking about this mother*&#@ing website. my friends on the indie web have talked about it, as well as its derivatives. they are simple sites with simple markdown and layout that take shots at modern webpage design and how... bloated they've become. and you know what? they're right. they're rather hostile about it, but they're right. website designs don't have to be complicated. i built my site using bear because i wanted it to be simple, no-frills, easy to navigate, and good-looking no matter where you access it from. whether it's a high-spec PC, a potato laptop, or your smartphone. you shouldn't have to worry about your device's specs to access the world wide web. i may be a visual artist, but webpage design is an art, too. and some webpage designers are... bad artists. when modern websites are loaded with javascripts and trackers, leading to long loading times just for text, pop-ups asking you to disable your ad blocker or subscribe to their…
