This morning I found an extension that tests for AI content in any web page and highlighted content. I did a few tests on the free version and quickly realized we've reached the breaking point. I tried a few posts at the top of the Bear Blog Discover page and they came up as showing high likelihood of being AI Written. I tested on sites I knew to be human written and it was able to identify those as human so I believe it's working and that makes it all the worse. Now looking through the Discover page is more a test in what I believe to be real and what is someone asking a bot to write an idea for them. As the bots get even better and attempt to avoid the knowing tells of AI then even this test will be useless and then who do you read at all? This realization has read me to the classics and books written before AI. They can still speak to us and some maybe even more now then before. I'm not ready to logoff completely just yet, but there isn't any feeling that it won't be coming soon.
