There is a website called Deviant Art that gives users 10 prompts a week to create any kind of image they can describe. (www.deviantart.com). Each prompt produces 3 different images from the description. The first images I created were kinky sex scenarios that I’m not going to share here. It soon occurred to me that I could create scenes of the natural world, including hypothesized Pleistocene landscapes. So far, the results are mixed. AI tools often produce images of people or animals with missing limbs or in some cases extra limbs. AI is also somewhat ignorant of many extinct pre-historic species and produces images of animals that never existed. However, I was pleased with images I created based on William Bartram’s description of a magnificent forest consisting of gigantic black oaks he encountered in east central Georgia during 1775. I hypothesize Pleistocene cougars had spotted coats, but I can’t get deviant art to produce an image that looks like what I think they looked like.…
