Using a red filter for black and white photography - preparing for winter clouds and gloom

I recently went out and used a thick old red filter on one of my toy cameras. Despite the digital noise, the photos were suitably creepy. You can see some of those here. I've since been thinking that I'll pack the red filter for an upcoming winter trip. Why not make those gloomy skies more interesting, right? Email me about this post.
