Against all odds, after a 53 year dry-spell, the Knicks won the NBA championship last Saturday in a dramatic underdog story that will probably be made into one or more Netflix documentaries. Mike Monteiro thought about the series and turned it into a useful metaphor for life: How to Get Out of Bed, which you should read. Last night, like a lot of people, I sat down to watch Game 4 of the NBA Finals. To be clear, I don’t really have a rooting interest in either team. They both have a good storyline and they’re both pleasant enough, and either would be worthy champions. (As a fan of either team, I understand it is your duty to disagree with me here.) Mostly, I am rooting for more basketball, because it’s become one of those good things that provides me with a quantum of solace from all the bad things. (via)
