I've been threatening to play Digimon in person with real humans for weeks now, and I finally made it happen! I've been to three local Store Tournaments now, once at the end of April, once at the beginning of May, and once more at the end of May. It's been a lot of fun! It's been great to see that the community is much more chill, patient, and accepting of new players than the worse parts of my brain were worried they would be. It's also been a really humbling experience! I spent around a year getting into the Digimon Card Game before seeking out other folks to play with, and there is truly no amount of playing on your own, playing against yourself, or playing online that can prepare you for playing against another living person. You really have to be on top of your shit. You've got to remember all of your effects, call them out, and try to play effectively while under a time limit for each 3-game round.
