Threshold weeks. New home, new phase of work, new moon. ‘New wardrobe’ would be a literal need, rather than an indicator of style. Saturday night, the Molly Winklers (local, inclusive prog morris side) had a show down at The Stables. They started by processing down from the ruins of the castle – around the corner from our new house. Their accordion player jimmies the gate lock and flings them wide in time for the side to shout “I want to break free!” We’re not going to the show but it’s fun to follow along. Seeing them do the Queen cover on High Street in May was a highlight of Jack in the Green. It burst to life, and a bunch of the crowd were happily yelling along. Rowan is fascinated by the sweeper, Brook. He gets to dance with a broom! They come round up the hill and do a loop outside the kiosk. The weather and light absolutely werk. There’s still warmth in the air, and the blue’s taking on some oranges as the sun starts dropping. The view across to the East Hill is supremely calm,…
