Vomit alert. Turns out networking really works. I prefer to call it calling friends and telling them what I’m up to, which is what I’ve been doing. I’ve been getting the word out that I’m looking for more DJ gigs. I did a headshot that was super popular on my Instagram page, started making consistent posters, and took one of the bookers to task a little bit. “Hey, aren’t you booking me for this stuff?” He’s just like, “Okay, we’ll start booking you.” Which is great. So I’m going to keep bugging them. I talked to a couple of friends and asked who they knew. They connected me to other friends. Those people connected me to still more friends. It’s funny when you’re trying to ramp all this stuff up. It’s like equipment. Let’s work with what we have first before we start buying stuff. I’d say the equivalent is: who are the friends you already know that are working on stuff? Talk to them. Lo and behold, it really works. Now I have two DJ gigs this weekend. One’s a four-hour yacht rock…
