I noticed smoke this morning on the Rincon Mountains to the east. I called 911 to report the smoke; they were well aware of the situation and assured me the National Forest Service was on the case. As I type this I can hear helicopters and air tankers at work. Dubbed the “Box Fire”, it was lasted reported to be involving five acres near Tanque Verde Peak. There were a couple of lightning strikes last night. I don’t know if this was the cause or if it was something else. I hope they are able to get things contained soon. This fire is less than five miles from the house at the moment.
