The Great Balkans Road Trip: Bucharest to Veliko Tarnovo (Day 2)

I’m doing a circular tour with a travel company called Just You, for solo travellers (my partner, Lee, not being a keen flyer), taking me from Romania through Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia and back through Romania. This was the first full day of the Balkan Explorer trip. We’d landed in Bucharest last night – after two full days travelling for me – and I was looking forward to spending some time in one place today. But no! This isn’t that sort of holiday at all. I’d be living out of a suitcase for the next two weeks. Having only checked into our hotel in Bucharest last night, we’d be checking into another hotel in another country tonight. Every day would be a full day of travelling and indulging in new cultures with a group of people I only met yesterday.
