This post is an attempt to make up for the lack of flowers in the last few posts. It was difficult to choose a flower to start this off with because there are many flowers that say “June.” It came down to the two I think most people who live in this area think of as flowers that appear specifically in June, and one of them is the beautiful blue flag iris seen above. If you see them in bloom, it must be June. Coming in at a close second was the ox-eye daisy, and it missed out on first place only because it isn’t native. Still, for most of us I think it might as well be. It has certainly been with me for all of my life and even played a part in my wedding. When I see it I think of June, not of its non-native status. There were lots of other flowers growing where I saw the ox eye daisies, including blue toadflax seen above.
