I have photographed the Skyspace instillation called Within without by the American artist James Turrell a few times now. The textures and light and reflections within this space always produce really interesting monochrome photos. This immersive work of art is entered via a long sloping walkway. Inside is a large square-based pyramid with soft red ochre interior walls. A stupa made of Victorian basalt rises at the centre, highlighted by turquoise water. The stupa contains the viewing chamber—a simple domed space, open to the sky. A moonstone, set into the centre of the floor, echoes the oculus above. — National Gallery of Australia. I am very happy how today’s effort worked out. Afterwards I wandered around the sculpture garden for a while, and took a couple more pics.
