Marcin Wichary blogged an extensive follow-up to my post from yesterday and I found it a fascinating read with a path forward for Redmond to fix their design. It turns out (as always) that the problem is not as easy to fix (apparently Typography is impossible), but, if Microsoft wanted an easy way out, they could turn off the preview once a replacement font has been set. The upper font is rendered in San Francisco, while the lower in Suisse Int’l. Rendering the lower as San Francisco after choosing the replacement would fix the issue.
