We had a sudden downpour of rain last night. We were sitting watching it stotting off the patio when we noticed movement: two frogs hopping about among the weedy pavers, and a snail. Here you can see one of the frogs, the snail in the distance and some self-seeded flowers growing through the cracks. We watched the frogs for ages. One of them tried to eat the snail! We think it failed as the snail just shrunk back into its shell. The rain became heavier and the frogs were almost swimming across the patio. They were a joyous site. The rain stopped. It was still light at 10.30pm so I went for a wander round the garden, ‘soaking’ up the wonders of midsummer.
