Scribed by Sandre the Giant Released: 7th May 1996 One part of the Anniversary Series that I’ve enjoyed the most is when I get to spend time with important albums and bands that I have little to no experience with, and British industrial metal band Pitch Shifter (soon to be Pitchshifter, this becomes very confusing to type) is a perfect example. Known to me by name and that’s about it, in researching this piece I’ve discovered that their sound is an incredibly important of industrial metal’s history, both in Britain and abroad. Their 1996 record ‘Infotainment?’ would be their last for Earache before they moved up in the world to Geffen Records, and before their driving industrial metal would start to evolve into a more nu-metal influenced sound, so it feels like a fascinating microcosm of how the mid 90s alternative music scenes began to change and evolve. Thirty years later, their legacy as one of industrial metal’s most important bands is probably underplayed a lot. ‘Infotainment?’…
