I recently finished reading "Retire Inspired" by former Ramsey Personality Chris Hogan. Going in, I knew that I wouldn't be very impressed with this book. I love Dave Ramsey's radio show, follow his principles well, and agree with most of the book's contents. However, there are a few turn-offs: Dave's radio show is great, but the style doesn't translate well to writing. Regardless of the author, all of the books published by Ramsey Solutions have the same repetitive, distracted, Baby-Steps-Heavy formula that takes forever to get to the point The book uses a lot of "look how good of a husband and father I am" examples, but Hogan ended up being fired for cheating on his wife with a subordinate. The examples all ring a bit hollow now The book spends most of its words trying to motivate the reader, while outsourcing the details with recommendations to consult an investment professional. This is fine for the book's target audience, but I prefer to self-manage my investments…
