Here’s an interesting bit of information that might surprise sceptics of Diamond Open Access publishing (as demonstrated by the Open Journal of Astrophysics). From about 26,170,000 articles and reviews published between 2020 and 2025, over 8.7M are diamond OA, more than any other OA model. And even this is likely an underestimation, as OA type detection for diamond is DOAJ based, that many diamond journals have not registered with.
