That’s probably not a blog post title that you see often! Since this post covers all of the steampunk bits I’ve created for this army it’s quite lengthy (but plenty of pics)! When I started my 20mm scale steampunk/Victorian Science Fiction armies, based around my existing historical armies, a Vietnamese VSF army was not one that I’d ever considered making, even though I have 19th Century Vietnamese and Chinese troops for fighting against the French in the 1884 Sino-French War. Even though 3D printing has meant I can get a lot more miniatures in 20mm scale now I never really thought that I’d be able to get anything that might make a Vietnamese VSF army worth doing. That is until January 2025, when I found the miniatures shown below on Etsy! These are described as clockwork elephants and they are just so right for steampunk. I got them from SLASynthesis on Etsy and the shop owner, Graham, was really helpful in re-sizing them for me. I bought two initially, but I’d got my thoughts on…
