Apple’s WWDC 2026 keynote just wrapped up and I…have a bit of whiplash. I’d like to think I go into watching most Apple events with a good attitude, leaving any sort of cynicism at the door. New iPhones when I’m not ready to upgrade? It’s usually still nice to see what’s new. The event earlier this year with the MacBook Neo? I don’t have a use for one, but I was excited for the Mac as a platform. After wrapping things up, this one just felt like a disappointment. The Good I thought the event started off strong—I loved the still photo transitions, thought the introduction of macOS 27 Golden Gate’s name was a silly gag, and thought Apple did a nice job of spinning the changes to Liquid Glass as an evolution. The different border radii on Mac apps has driven me nuts for the better part of eight months, so it’s nice to see that Apple dialed that back in favor of less round windows. The extra toolbar layer and sidebar being a true sidebar made sense as “wins” and the Liquid Glass slider is…
