Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 17th April 2026 After a couple of demos and singles, the first proper EP from Glasgow sludge/doom/hardcore newcomers Gout is out now. Coming from members of gloom poppers The Ninth Wave and indie band Lucia and the Best Boys, ‘Actual Bastard’ couldn’t sound any more different, loaded with knuckle dragging riffs and nihilistic grimness. ‘Actual Bastard’ is out now self released. Ugly, dragging, visceral sludge is what Gout specialise in, with a penchant for the kind of nihilistic bug eyed intensity that you’d normally see reserved for NOLA kingpins in the same genre. But Gout have got that in abundance, as well as lashings of sickening groove, hardcore rage and impenetrable low end heaviness.
