In July of 2009, nearly 17 years ago, our writing group held Round 26 - another chance to try out hands at poetry. That spring had been quite a rainy one, and it got me thinking about how my thoughts and perspectives on rain had changed over the course of my life. And what is better than writing a poem about that? Writing four, obviously! Four Perspectives on Rainby Rusty Keele One: The Landscaper Rain, rain - why won't you stop? All the water that you drop Gathers on the grass below And makes it so I cannot mow! Two: The Teenager Rain, rain - I love you so You make it so I cannot mow I stay inside and play my Wii As content as I can really be. Three: The Child Rain, rain - you make me pout For you have knocked our power out Not only is it hard to see, But also we can't watch TV! Four: The Dad Rain, rain - you give me thrills And you lower my water bills, For though the days are really bleak I didn't have to water last week! These poems copyright © 2009 by Rusty Keele.
