It was forecast to be a damp weekend but I’ve got out to the garden and allotment and the rain has mainly held off. Yesterday the garden was full of bees despite the clouds. This little patch of thyme, growing in a gap in the patio, was covered in bees. They also enjoy the comfrey flowers: And the sage This one, enjoying the Canterbury Bells, was quite elusive but you can just see it inside one of the flowers. A Robin also joined me, expecting grubs or something from my digging. You can just spot it, hiding behind the grass. You may also spot a selfseeded cosmos plant. I was quite excited about that, after last year’s amazing cosmos flowers. Here’s what the cosmos was like at its peak last year. So I’m looking forward to what it might do this year. Down at the allotment the bees were all over the selfseeded foxglovea and geraniums. The veg plots are ticking over. The broad beans seem to have survived the mice, the potatoes are doing well and the tomatoes and cucumbers are enjoying the…
