ask yourself that again. do we NEED generative AI? there are many things that were once popular, but lost it over time. eventually, humans moved on from them, looking back and asking themselves, "do we NEED them?" justin bieber, facebook, fidget spinners, smart fridges, cryptocurrency, the xbox, and adobe products are among them. let's add LLMs and generative AI to that list, shall we? like many here on bearblog, i hate generative AI. i believe it to be an insult to an honest day's work; a cheat code for people to get through existence with as little effort as possible; an excuse for the rich man to treat those beneath him even worse than he already does. my personal experience with it is this: i fooled around with it a few times back when it "sucked", and no one (including yours truly) liked the output.
