I’m naturally anxious and tend to overthink things. Often this happens when I’m trying to relax or go to sleep! Years ago, I got each of my boys one of those worry monster plushies. You know, the ones that have a mouth that zips up and you’re supposed to write your worries on a slip of paper and then feed them to the monster, then the parent squirrels it away? Well my boys never really used them so they got stored away with all the other unloved plushies, but recently I came across one and wondered - why don’t I try it? I didn’t want to be bound to a physical object and I also knew I’d never believe a plushie was really going to help, so I thought about devising a more practical method. When I have a worry, my brain goes into overdrive trying to figure out how to solve it. I decided to create a pinned document in my notes app with the following details: Name the worry. Write down every detail about the worry and why it matters. Note potential solutions - even if they can’t be actioned…
