A year ago I’d go for a long run every weekend out to Bennington Lake. It was often hot and dry, even at 7:00am. But it was a beautiful, quiet pedestrian path that ran along Mill Creek and into the hills outside of Walla Walla. And if I got out early enough, there was even the occasional river otter. The hills on a particularly bucolic day. I still get out for a long run every Sunday, yet every other part of that description has changed. I’ve swapped the creek path for a narrow country road through forests and fields. In place of otters are many cows (though which field they’re in can be a bit of a guessing game). And the weather… Well, let’s say it’s no longer hot nor dry. It’s much easier to stay hydrated on long runs these days! I’ve traded my black running shirts for fluorescent orange and yellow so that I’m easy to spot. From this morning’s run. Every week should end with a sweet treat, and once I get back from a run I make chocolate chip pancakes. We pair them with fresh…
