Do you remember those books that the kids could turn the page and it would have a different character head, different middle of body and then different legs where kids could play mix and match creating hybrid characters through illustrations? If so, what is that type of book formatting called? Like interactive read aloud with flip and find? My brain doesn’t work on Mondays. Thanks!
Like these? I don’t know that there is one set word for this. But based on the online descriptions of these books, I think it would be fair to call them “mix-and-match” books or “flip-the-flap” books. A more general term for books that have these KINDS of elements would be “novelty” or “interactive.”A word for the creature/character you create with such a book is a “portmanteau animal” or “portmanteau character.”So you could describe a book like this with a combo of terms: “Flip-o-storic is a...
