I work better with a deadline. I always have. I'm more likely to complete a job at all if I have a deadline. When I discovered last week that Atlas Games released David Somerville's The Star-Shaman's Song of Planegea under an Open Game License and that the first 30 people to release a Planegea product using this license would win a prize, I decided to try. I have a lot of stories I want to tell in the setting. I found out about the announcement a few weeks' late, so I had to severely scope my initial project, and I wound up staying up quite late one ... well, morning, but I got it done.
