The current outbreak of Ebola has inevitably encouraged lots of maps of the outbreak, just search for “Maps of the Ebola outbreak in Africa” and you will find something like this. Some of these are pretty good, some don’t communicate very well and a few are awful. My attention was drawn to a static map obviously generated by AI which was so so bad that it was laughable and you had to wonder why anyone share this without picking up the numerous obvious geographic errors, I wwonderedhat Claude could do so I asked it “can you make me a map image of africa showing all of the historic outbreaks of ebola labelled with the date and number of deaths. please ensure the data is accurate and reference the sources in the map legend” After 4 or 5 iterations to sort out the labelling (difficult because of the concentration of the outbreaks I got this, which you can also view online: Not perfect but a fair effort in 15 minutes.
